| The Alexander Technique
Learned in action, the principles of the Alexander Technique seamlessly combine process (movement) and product (goals). The Alexander Technique requires no special exercise program, no set of specialized postures, and no meditation that removes you from your activity. Focusing on how you use your body in an activity, you learn to identify thoughts and tensions that interfere with your ability to do things. The Alexander Technique teacher gently guides you to recognize habitual reactions; this allows you awareness of a choice in your response to your activity.
The Alexander Technique offers a way to learn how to move with more ease. One learns how to be alert without anxiety or tension; to stand upright but not rigid; to relax but not collapse; to maintain composure under stress; and, to move, speak and perform with poise. Ultimately, the Alexander Technique frees self-expression and creativity. The student and teacher explore the body, its habits and finding it's primary control.
